Qui di seguito uno stralcio della lettera del Professor Dorothy Bennett, che dava notizia dell’assegnazione della Mara Nahum Scholarship:

“17 April, 2012

Dear Jaskaren,
Re: Mara Nahum Scholarship

It was wonderful news to hear that you were offered one of the SGUL-Wellcome studentships, and have accepted. We look forward very much to your joining our group in the autumn.

As you know, you will therefore become the holder of the Mara Nahum Scholarship, which will run in line with your studentship, from 1 October 2012 for 3 years, and will provide running costs to support the project work. Many congratulations on this award!

Conditions of the award are that we provide the sponsors with progress reports every 6 months, that their support is acknowledged in publications or presentations arising from the work, and that they receive copies of these publications.

The scholarship by the way is endowed by private donations, contributed by families affected by melanoma, and especially in memory of the Nahum family’s daughter Mara who died of melanoma. Melanoma, sadly, can often affect young people as well as old, as you may know.
But it can be curable if detected in time. Let’s hope that our forthcoming research will make that easier.
With best wishes
Yours sincerely,
